A MESSAGE TO ALL TOTTENHAM FANS
By Avenell Dave
Do you ever hear Arsenal players talking about Tottenham in a disrespectful manner?
Did Sol Campbell slate his former teams when he moved to the successful side of North London? No, he didn’t.
Do we bring out DVDs every time we beat T*tt*nh*m in any competition? Hardly.
Of course Arsene Wenger and the team know how much it matters to beat the minnows from the Seven Sisters Road but while beating us is the way they have judged their season for so long, we have no such preoccupations.
Some Addicts confessed yesterday to looking at the fixture list in June to see when our games against T*tt*nh*m are scheduled but I have to admit, I don’t think of them as the big games.
Yes, Arsene Wenger put out a stronger team than normal in this competition, because, quite rightly, he realises that keeping the successful momentum going is vital, particularly at this stage of the season while we’re riddled with injuries and still with ALL to play for.
Twitcher Harry claimed that Samir Nasri dived last night – sour grapes. He said nothing of the offside goal his team scored or the incorrectly flagged effort we were denied.
T*tt*nh*m fans and their manager can talk about their youth system all they like, about the pretty football they play, about how much the gap has closed.
The stats say it all: Kieran Gibbs, Henri Lansbury, Johan Djourou and Jack Wilshere – all free. Carlos Vela, Gael Clichy and unused sub JET all free or nominal fees.
Compare and contrast with T*tt*nh*m’s side that included big money signings like Pavluchenko, Keane, Bassong, Sandro, Dos Santos, Bentley, Palacios, Lennon and Kranjcar.
David Bentley would just have been another ex Gunner if he’d joined T*tt*nh*m and kept his mouth shut. But he had to get all mouthy and show exactly the sort of characteristics that made Wenger decide to get rid of him and why even Twitcher doesn’t play him very often now.
Rafael van der Vaart, a player I have long admired until he went to the dark side, laughably talked about T*tt*nh*m being bigger than us. How ridiculous. They haven’t finished above us in years, have qualified for the Champions League only once, have a smaller ground and haven’t won the title since 1961.
NINETEEN SIXTY ONE!!
Most of us Addicts weren’t alive when that happened and we probably won’t be alive when they next win the title. Or should that be ‘IF’?
Last night’s victory actually means little to us Addicts apart from making us laugh at the ridiculous nature of the cock-logo wearing fans and players deluding themselves that they can bridge a gap that would take a years to overcome.
The difference in class is beyond debate.
Wilshere is going to be like Jesus but in football
