Middlesbrough have been crrippled by injuries to their midfield, with the likes of George Boateng, Stewart Downing and Gaizka Mendieta all missing large chunks of the season.
Add to that the summer departure of Bolo Zenden — arguably Boro’s best player last year — and you begin to realise why things have gone awry.
